The pendulum of plastic surgery trends has officially swung in the direction of undetectable. According to New Beauty’s The State of Aesthetics Summer 2026 report, patients understand this trend to be looking like the best, well-rested version of themselves. Of those surveyed, an overwhelming 91 percent of patients say that looking refreshed or well-rested is extremely or very important to their appearance, the most near-universal finding in the survey. We spoke with several doctors to get their insights into the growing popularity of this aesthetic trend, and aside from patient education, the biggest driver of this trend has been none other than social media. “Social media has played an interesting role. People have become much better at recognizing when cosmetic work looks unnatural. I think we’ll continue to see a shift away from chasing individual trends or exaggerated features and towards comprehensive facial rejuvenation that emphasizes skin quality, facial harmony and healthy aging,” says New York dermatologist Dr. Shereen Teymour.
