The investigational medication is being discussed across TikTok, Reddit and bodybuilding forums, where users claim it’s the next evolution of GLP-1 therapy. At the same time, compounded and gray-market versions have begun circulating online, raising concerns among medical experts. On the latest episode of The Beauty Authority, New York endocrinologist and senior medical advisor for Found, Rekha Kumar, MD, breaks down what Retatrutide actually is, how it differs from Wegovy and Zepbound and why patients should be wary of getting their medical advice from social media. “It’s the next generation of GLP-1s,” she explains, noting that unlike today’s medications, Retatrutide targets three hormone pathways: GLP-1, GIP and glucagon.
